7 Songs for the Broken Heart

This last year hasn’t been an easy one for me. Last year was full of a lot of heartache, change and growing pains for me. I’ve left a lot of dreams and people behind. Loss of any kind is hard. The kind of loss I’m focusing on here is lost and broken relationships. All my relationships are so important to me and there’s nothing that hurts more than a friend who stops being my friend. I hate giving up on people. I hate having to let go and move on. Below I want to share some of the songs that have helped me get through these last few months. For anyone going through loss or a broken relationship, hopefully these songs will give you a little comfort and a lot of motivation to keep on.

Music is a big part of my life. With these songs I wanted to create a kind of progression from sad, frustrated, brokenhearted loss that then moves into new resolve, joy and understanding. One of my biggest struggles for me is fear. It’s difficult for me to not be afraid of losing people. But I believe in trusting Jesus and that means trusting Him with the people in my life and trusting that He knows what’s best for me, even if it’s not what I think is best. With that being said, here are a few of my favorite sad songs as well as some upbeat fun ones! Happy listening!!

“Curse the Love Songs” by the Hawk in Paris

“Let Her Go” by Passenger

“Stubborn Love” by the Lumineers

“And Then You Love Someone” by Ben Rector

“Blue Skies” by Noah and the Whale

Loss can make you cynical if you let it. Remember to learn from your mistakes but don’t live in them. Don’t be discouraged. Love others. Be a friend. Be vulnerable. Be humble. Be kind. Forgive. Live. Move on.
