I didn't catch your name

via Pinterest
It’s a new year and with the start of a new year I thought it might be helpful to reintroduce myself to any newcomers on my blog. This is a get-to-know you sort of post.

So, I guess I should start with my name (even though it's kind of obvious from the right sidebar of this blog).

I am Dani Fisher. I am a twenty-one-year old, Midwest girl who believes in Jesus and old-fashioned kindness and courtesy.

I currently work full-time as an administrative assistant and plan to finish school online as I continue to work. I really love my job and the company I work for which is great because I kind of stumbled upon it by accident a couple months after I first moved away from home, well, not by accident, by God's grace.

I am a people-person. At first glance I can come across as shy and sometimes withdrawn, but at the end of the day I love people. I love building people up, encouraging, and drawing out the potential in people, I love motivating people and inspiring people. That being said, my favorite people are God’s people. There is nothing I enjoy more than building up my brothers and sisters in Christ and being built up by them.

My roomie is the best. Last year I was living with two of my older sisters until my oldest sister got married and now it’s down to the two of us! We moved into a little apartment last November and it’s been a pretty exciting adventure since then. I could not ask for a better roomie/friend in my sister.

My favorite beverage is tea. I enjoy any kind of morning breakfast tea—Irish, English, Scottish—preferably loose-leaf. I also really love Earl Grey in the afternoons as well as Chai Spice black tea—such a good holiday beverage!

My favorite movie is “The Man from Snowy River”. A close second to this movie would be “Australia”. Something about the combination of scenic cinematography, Australian accents, horses, romance, incredible music, and adventure...

I am twenty-one years old and a single pringle. Since everyone seems to want to know my relationship status (and is exceedingly fretful over my relationship status), I should verify that I am one-hundred percent single. And to be completely honest, I really enjoy being single and I’m not in a huge hurry to change my status.

I teach piano lessons on the side. Teacher is not so much my profession of choice as it is an integral part of who I am. I impulsively want to share what I know and what I enjoy with others.

Writing and music are my solace. Writing and music are places of refuge for me. I write because I need to. I play music and sing to establish and focus my mind and emotions. It is no mistake that God gave his people a giant book of songs to sing within His Word. He knows better than anyone how much we need music.

I love my family. I come from a large family—we just keep getting bigger!—and it goes without saying that I would not be who I am today if not for my family. You will probably hear me gush about my nephew and niece on here from time to time and I apologize in advance for any overly sentimental/sappy blog posts!

I love Jesus. I hope this doesn’t sound cliché, but I love my Lord and Savior Jesus and out of all of the above factoids, his relationship with me by far has the most implications for my life, from the words I say, the things I do, my dreams, relationships—every part of my life is influenced by his desire and his will as revealed in his Word, the Bible. So it’s kind of worth mentioning.

These are tiny snippets of my life but I hope they give you a bit of a context for the rest of my blog. Other blog posts that might be helpful to read include “Remember” and “Six Things You Should Know about My Brother Ben”. But I don’t just want you to get to know me this year, I want to get to know you too. If you have a blog of your own, please share the link in the comments below. I would love to check it out. Or if you feel like dropping by and just saying “hi” I would love to hear from you. Here’s to 2016! It's going to be a grand year.

  5. Nice to meet you, Dani!

I came here because of your awesome comment on my Muppet Treasure Island post on The Fangirl Initiative. Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you better. I too love building up my siblings in Christ! Let me know if you ever want to chat! (and you're not alone, by the way... I'm 32 and still single. I just thought you'd want to know that you're not the only one who gets asked that question.)

You can find me at TFI (obviously), and at my own blog here: https://arwiesner.wordpress.com/

  6. I absolutely loved this post, sweet Dani. I smiled when I read you teach piano on the side :) I tried that for a little while, but I must confess that I not exactly teacher material....at least when it comes to piano.

Your comment on my blog this morning was such a delight to read and I was thrilled to read of your love for tea.

You asked about an Etsy shop and I do indeed have one {{smiles}} Here is the link, my dear: https://www.etsy.com/shop/RosePetalBlessings

  7. Firstly, thank you for visiting my blog, Dani; it was a pleasure to have you swing by. It has been a delight to get to know you a little. I adore the movie "The Man from Snowy River" too. It is a wonderful story and the landscape of the Snowy Mountains is amazing....and then there is the soundtrack....sublime! My husband and I quite often reach for the DVD and watch it. I look forward to visiting your lovely blog constantly in 2016.
