Favorite Things | Winter 2016 Edition

via Pinterest
Originally this post was supposed to be the “New Year” edition but then I realized it’s not the “New Year” anymore. Is it even still technically winter? It’s difficult to tell these days. Sometimes the mornings are chilly and frosted over and then other days are balmy, sunny, carrying the promise of spring. The favorite things listed below are in no particular order and summarize the last couple of months pretty well. I apologize for not releasing a “Christmas 2015” edition, though I promise it would have been a very redundant list—Christmas music, Christmas lights, Christmas ball, Christmas weddings, Christmas everything! Last Christmas was a very busy season for my family as is evident by my absence from this blog post September 2015. Nevertheless, without further ado, here is the latest installment of my “Favorite Things”!

>>Valentine’s Day feast with dear (single lady) friends
>>siblings growing up
>>mint EOS lip balm
>>fuzzy warm socks
>>paleo banana-oatmeal-chocolate-chip cookies
>>candied ginger
>>tea with cream
>>positive coworkers
>>sunshiny, warm days
(it’s almost spring!!)
>>this song by Bastian Baker
(because I know I’m lucky)
>>making road-trip plans with friends
>>filing taxes (I’m such a big person now)
>>dusting off Irish tunes
>>registering to vote (I know, it's long overdue)
>>teaching piano lessons
>>Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood marathons with friends
>>my niece’s chubby cheeks
>>teaching Sunday School to the wee ones
>>Ladies’ Bible Study evenings
>>evenings spent curled up with a book
>>late-night conversations with my bro
>>finally getting my car repaired! (Yay for handy dads!)

What are some of your recent“favorite things”?

  1. "mint EOS lip balm" Mhmmm, yes. <3

  2. I am definitely with you on the warm fuzzy socks - a necessity and a favorite for my cold feet. I could go on and on about my favorite things, which is a good thing, but just a few things off the top of my head: my first cup of tea in the morning (orange pekoe), walking my dog, tidying my house while listening to my children play. All in that order. Have a beautiful Sunday Dani!

    1. Thank you, Andrea! I'm with you on the first cup of tea in the morning, though for me it is usually Irish breakfast or Chai black tea. Have a wonderful week!

  3. Teaching Sunday School to little children is so fun - especially when two of the little girls are angels but tend fight over who get's to sit with me and who is a favorite of mine. It's really funny because I remember days when I was in Church at their age having similar thoughts...

    1. Yes! The exact same thought occurs to me so frequently while teaching Sunday school. I start remembering all of the times I was a little child looking up (in awe) to my Sunday school teachers and it's so funny and sweet to see history repeat itself in a good way. :)

  4. Yay, what a fun list! :) I kind of want oatmeal cookies now...;) And I know what you mean about the "Is it spring or winter?" dilemma.

    1. I know! I keep thinking, "should I unpack my spring/summer clothes yet? Is it too late to wear boots?" Ugh.

      Thanks for stopping by, Paige!

  5. Fuzzy warm socks, tea with cream, ladies Bible study....what sweet joys, my friend :)

It's always a delight to have you at Roses of Inspiration. Hugs!

    1. Thank you, Stephanie! Your comments are always so sweet. :)

  6. Now that's a great list. My list: anything to do with tea, warm sweaters, also warm socks, my ugly heavy bathrobe, a relaxing day antiquing, baking anything, cooking and watching Flea Market Flip!

    1. That sounds fantastic, Bernideen! Seems most of my comfy relaxing clothes are "ugly" too, which is probably why they are so comfy. Antiquing is always a fun adventure. And tea is a non-negotiable part of my everyday! Thanks for stopping by and commenting! :D
