Before we get started, I want to give a big thank you to the readers and bloggers who have commented on my posts and followed my blog over the last few months. When I dusted this blog off at the start of this year I did not expect to have so much fun with it. In God’s providence, this blog has been a doorway to a whole new community that I’ve enjoyed contributing to. I appreciate your feedback and support! And I can’t thank you enough.

Now, let’s get down to business! Last week Kelpie from Created by the Created nominated me for the Liebster Award! I’m not quite sure where this award originated (maybe one of you can enlighten me?) but it’s a fun game that helps connect blogs and bloggers that might not otherwise know about one another. It’s also a way to get to know your fellow bloggers a little better. So, without further ado, I present to you my response to Kelpie’s nominee questions. The rules are as follows:

1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the 11 new questions.
3. Nominate other bloggers (however many or few as you’d like).
4. Create 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominated.
5. Notify the new nominees of their award.

So, here we go!

1. What is your favorite (non-Biblical) quote?

I don’t know if this is my absolute favorite quote, but it certainly is high on my list!

“You’re idealists. That’s the problem. In the fallen world ideals are easily shattered and then you have a disillusioned idealist, which is almost worse than a cynic. No, I think you need to be a romantic in order to survive, because it doesn’t make sense to be one. It never does. That’s the whole point.” –Rose Briar from Regina Doman’s Fairy Tales Retold

2. What is your favorite topography? (i.e. dessert, mountains, prairie, etc.)

Oh, this is a really hard one to answer! I love anything that is scenic and beautiful and I love every different kind of topography for different reasons. If I could narrow it down to two favorites I think they would be prairies, because the sunsets and sunrises are glorious and the sky is so big and spacious, and forests, because I love the smell of leaves, the sound of songbirds and the peace and tranquility of meandering through the trees.

3. If you could move to another country where would you go?

I would probably move to Ireland and if not Ireland then Australia.

4. What is #1 on your “bucket list”?

I actually don’t really have a bucket list but if I did horse-back riding lessons would be #1. I’ve always wanted to take horse-back riding lessons but have never really had a good reason or the means to take lessons.

Another thing high on my list is starting a YouTube channel. I’d love to get into making vlogs someday.

5. What do you believe is the most important quality in a friend?

This is actually a really hard question because I love all of my friends for the different qualities they have. Ultimately, the most important thing for me is a mutual love for Jesus and a willingness to intentionally commit time and service to the other person. I’m not too picky when it comes to my friends, but I know that the ones who have a deep love for Jesus are the ones who I will grow from the most.

6. How do you spend the majority of your time (may include sleeping!)?

The majority of my time right now is spent either working or sleeping. That might change in the next couple of weeks as I’m planning to audition for a play.

7. If you could have named yourself, what name would you have chosen? Why?

I really have no idea. I’ve always liked the name Brielle and I really like the name Nellie. But I also really like the name I have now. Danielle is after my dad whose name is Daniel and my middle name is Jeanne which is the same as my mom’s middle name.

8. What is something about you that would surprise most people?

I don't feel like anything about me is very surprising. I guess I love going to concerts (any kind of concert as long as it’s not heavy metal or rap) and I also really love to dance, as long as it’s real dancing—contra, English country, Ceili, etc.—all and any of those are pretty much the bomb!

9. What is something you dislike but everyone else loves?

There aren’t that many things that I dislike. And even the things that I dislike, it’s not like I loathe them to the point where I can’t stand them. Starbucks coffee is the first thing that comes to mind because several of my friends and relatives are managers and baristas at pretty legit coffee shops (where they serve real coffee).

Another thing that I dislike that most people like is Taylor Swift. Oh, and any movie or TV show with zombies or vampires. I don’t find horror or thriller movies entertaining and I don’t think zombies are funny. They’re just gross. I also might have an overactive imagination that makes scary movies hard for me to watch. Yes, I’m a bit of a wimp, I know.

10. What is your dream pet? Or would you rather not own an animal?

My dream pet would probably be a fish or a cat or a guinea pig. Fish are cool because they’re pretty and chill. Cats and guinea pigs are cute, small, furry and snuggly.

11. What inspired you to start blogging?

My sister Anna was no doubt the first person who inspired me to start blogging. She’s also the one who inspired me to keep a journal and a diary. Basically, any interest in writing was pretty much spawned by her.

This has been really fun! Let me know what you thought in the comments below. Did you learn anything new about me? Do you have any follow-up questions for me? Thanks again to Kelpie for nominating me. I would like to nominate the following bloggers to answer the questions listed below.

Raquel from It’s Just Raquel
Hannah Barta from Dance a Real
Becca from Life’s Melody
Joy Chalaby from Fullness of Joy
Amy from Little Moon Dragon

  1. Aw, thank you so much for nominating me, Dani! I feel so honoured! I love your blog so much, and while I sadly have only been able to comment now and again on "A Vapor in the Wind" lately due to my schoolwork, I have been much inspired by your blog (and by you!): in your faith, your love of stories (I think we have some similiar favourites!), music and family. You are definitely someone I would love to meet one day, and I am so glad we can be friends online! I loved getting to know more about your interests, passions, likes, dislikes. . . I enjoyed the quote from Fairy Tales Retold - which I haven't read actually - but it is so sweet and I think true ;). Aww, I want you to visit Australia! :D That would be super sweet. . . and if you ever go to Ireland, I wanna go too! :))

Mm, I want to be a more active youtuber, and do vlogs too! Only I have been quite scared about putting my face and youtubes online for the public, just because of all the privacy aspects and stalkers and all that. But it is something I would love to do one day - definitely would enjoy seeing some vlogs with you.

I do not like Taylor Swift either. . . sorry, but her music is, "eww"! You'd also be hard-pressed to find Starbucks in Australia - we have a whole heap of other cafes and restaurants though of different variety to make up for that. And I don't like zombie/vampire stories/films at all either. *they are so dark and creepy and just plan EVIL!* *shudders*

Oh yes, friends who truly love the Lord Jesus and have a heart that longs to follow and serve Him are truly the best!

I love the questions you tagged us in - definitely looking forward to posting them on my blog soon (possibly next week). Thank you, again, Dani.

Lots of love and blessings in Christ,

    1. I can't wait to read your reply, Joy! I'm glad that we have so much in common. :)

I hear your sentiments on the whole YouTube/vlogging inhibitions. Right now I don't even have the equipment (or the money for the equipment) to really consider investing in it but I've been doing some research and observing other vloggers and hearing their opinions on the whole privacy issue.

I think once I eventually get the equipment, I'll limit my vlogs to Q&A sessions and simple stuff like that.

      Thanks for stopping by!! :)

  2. Thanks for answering my questions Dani! I really enjoyed reading them and finding out how much we have in common. I like your topography choices! Those would be my picks as well. And horse riding lessons...wouldn't that be great? I mean, I can ride a horse but no one would ever accuse me of doing it well.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Kelpie! Thanks so much for nominating me. It was a lot of fun. :)

  3. aw I love these questions! I wish someone random would nominate me so I could do them haha! Love your blog, I've just bookmarked it :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Beth! And who knows? This award just might find it's way to your blog eventually. ;)

  4. Hey, great post! I did the same a few months ago and it was quite fun! I would also love moving to Ireland or Australia someday hahahahahaha Have a nice day,

  5. Hey, Thanks for nominating me. :) I don't actually do tags or awards on my blog, (I keep it more of a lifestyle, review blog,) but I would love to answer your questions in a comment if that's okay. If not... well, you can delete this comment. ;)

    1. What is the driving passion of your life?
To serve and glorify Christ in all that I do. God has been overwhelming me with the concept of Grace lately, and the fact that he chose to redeem us out of his great mercy and grace, (a concept I have known since childhood, yet it's been really hitting me between the eyes lately. :) And I have been challenged to pursue him all the more!

    2. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Ideally, I see myself married and caring for my own home/apartment, cooking and cleaning for the love of my life {and possibly a kiddo?}. I would absolutely love that. Alternatively, if marriage is not what God has in store for me, in five years I can see myself working as a EMT/Paramedic, and working with therapy dogs.

    3. What is one thing you believe God has been teaching you this last year?
GRACE, GRACE, GRACE. As I mentioned above. :)

    4. How do you deal with Mondays or off-days?
I drink lots of tea, and tons of coffee, and usually I find time to curl up with a good book. It tends to brighten my mood considerably! Also googling random pictures of baby animals helps. ;)

    5. What is your Myers-Briggs personality type? Do you think this type accurately summarizes your personality?
My personality is INTJ, and I think it is pretty accurate of me. I am a very sarcastic person, (I need someone to follow me around when meeting new people to assure them that I am not mean... when I say something that sounds awful, it's sarcasm. ;) I tend to spend a lot of time in my own mind, needing a lot of alone time... And I am NOT emotional!

    6. If someone made a movie of your life, what actor/actress would you cast to play you?
Anne Hathaway. Definitely. I'm super klutzy, and ditzy (rivaling Mia in the Princess Diaries!) and she did soo well in that role, so it would have to be her. :)

    7. What is something that makes you cry (a book, song, movie, etc.) and why? Videos, photos and stories of soldiers coming home, or the ones who aren't coming home. This year on the 4th of July there was a concert at the white house honoring soldiers, and Hugh Jackman's rendition of "Bring Him Home," dedicated to a soldier who died on tour had me sobbing!

    8. What is one blog/blogger that inspires you to write? Please share why and provide a link!
I am always inspired by Raquel, at It's just Raquel, and also Jess from Your's Truly, (jjyourstruly.blogspot.com)

    9. Why did you start blogging and what is the goal of your blog?
I started blogging when I was twelve as a creative outlet, and a way to meet and connect with other people. My blog is a mismatch of lifestyle posts, fashion, and book reviews. Basically, I consider it a journal of sorts, and my posts are more for myself to look back on then for others.

    10. What are some of your favorite hobbies (if any) besides blogging and writing?
I am a pianist, (ten years,) and am getting back into that after taking two years off for an injury. I also love photography and reading... I read all the time! I also enjoy cooking/baking and hiking.

    11. What is your biggest fear and why?
Suffocating. I know it's stupid, and irrational, but I have always been terrified of dying alone, (in a bathroom or something,) and then a family member or close friend finding me...

Also, Ireland would be amazing!!!!!!! :)

    1. Becca, this was so fun to read! Thanks so much for sharing your responses. Your personality type makes perfect sense! I'm an ENFP and apparently INTJs and ENFPs make really good friends. ;)

Yes, Anne Hathaway!! I can definitely see that. :D

I also loved everything you had to say about your goals in life and learning about grace. The way you approach your plans vs. God's plans is also very encouraging. Sometimes it's a struggle for me to reconcile with the fact that maybe my plans aren't God's plans...but to always take hope in knowing God's plans are always good.

And googling pictures of cute baby animals...haha! I will have to remember that the next time I have a bad day. :)

      Thanks again and God bless!

  6. Lovely post, it was really nice to learn more about you! And I really appreciate you nominating me, but I don't really do tags like this anymore on my blog ♥

  7. Hi Danielle! Thank you so much for following my blog! I'm glad you posted this because I'm new to your blog and enjoyed learning a bit more about you! I would love to visit Ireland and Australia...and Ireland would probably go on my places to live too! ;) I've never heard about Fairy Tales Retold and will be looking it up! I'm always on the look out for new books to read! Blessings!

    ~Sarah C~

    1. Thank YOU Sarah for following my blog! Well, if we both end up in Ireland someday maybe we can meet each other in real life. ;)

You should definitely check out the Fairy Tales Retold! They are a really fun twist on the classic fairy tales, set in modern times and without the fantasy aspect. Also, the author does a good job of weaving some beautiful spiritual themes and journeys into the stories. She's Roman Catholic, so I don't agree with all her theology, but I enjoy her writing nonetheless. :)

  8. It's fun to know more about you! :) It's also good to find another fellow Ireland fan. I agree with you on #9 - why are people so entertained by the undead and monsters these days?! :-S

    1. Thanks Paige! I'm thinking someday in the future we'll have to do a blogger meet up in Ireland. ;)

Also, I'm so glad that there are people who are on the same page as me when it comes to the undead/vampires.

  9. Interesting to learn how you got your name! What is your Myers-Briggs personality type? I'm an ENTJ.

    1. Thanks, Bethany! That's so cool that you're an ENTJ. I hear they're one of the rarest types. My Myers-Briggs personality type is an ENFP. :)
